Peeling Apart

Peeling Apart (2023). This was the final project for Intaglio in the spring of 2023. The processes for this medium involved learning to etch into copper plates with chemical baths and working with aquatint, hardground, and drypoint to produce ink prints. After learning the techniques, we were tasked with utilizing at least two of the techniques to build a body of work. I decided to combine aquatint and hardground to produce surreal images on the plates. At the time, I started exploring a new motif that would alter and evolve into exploring visibility and the idea of self-concept. Here, that initial interest resulted in working outside of the traditional square print along with adding objects such as the beads.
